Our Alignment Units

The exact definition of the state of stress is a basic requirement for determining material parameters for strength calculations. In uniaxial static or cyclic tests, no superimposed bending moment should occur in addition to the axial force.

Alignment Unit

Such moments can be generated by axis or angle errors of the load train, to give an example. Misalignments in the load axis are not only due to the design but can also occur during operation (e.g. due to thermally induced aging effects in the load rods when exposed to high temperatures). Without notice, these axis errors can lead to drastic errors in the material parameters.

The verification of the bending portion is described by different standards (e.g. ASTM E 1012).

With a suitable calibration rod and the associated measuring technology, these axis errors can be determined according to height and direction. The alignment unit from FORM+TEST then makes it possible to minimize these errors. The alignment unit thus contributes to an enormous increase in quality and, above all, ensures reliable results.
